Ke'e Beach - Kauai

Ke'e beach is at the end of Highway 560 on the far North Shore of Kauai. The location of the beach makes it one of the best locations on Kauai to view an ocean sunset. Surrounding the beach area are groves of coconut palms, guava and ironwood trees.

Getting to Ke'e Beach: You get to Ke'e beach by heading north on Highway 560 past Ha'ena. The road starts to get a little narrower on this side of the island and you will end up crossing some one lane bridges (don't worry they're safe). Usually there is plenty of parking at the end of the road.

There are public bathrooms, pay phones, outdoor showers and picnic facilities in this area. Occasionally you will also find venders, our favorite are the shaved ice vendors.

This is a wide section of beach. If you walk the beach heading south/east, you will come across tunnels beach (aka Makue Beach). This is one of our favorite snorkeling locations. You will find large schools of colorful fish as well as turtles, sea anemones and other sea life. This is also one of the favorite surfing beaches due to the large waves.

Ke'e Beach is part of the Ha'ena state park. Near Ke'e beach is the trailhead for Kalalau Trail. The Kalalau trail si a 11 mile path that provides the only land access into the Na Pali Coast State Park. Only the first two miles are open to the general public. Access to the rest of the trail requires a camping permit or a day use permit. You can purchase a permit at the State Parks office.

While the beach and surf is relatively safe there can be strong currents in the area at times, especially during winter.

Ke'e beach gives a greak view of the Na Pali mountains and the Na Pali coastline and is consider one of the favorite wedding venue on Kauai.
